Apollo 11 Moon Landing Site Seen in Unprecedented Detail - Space
NASA's Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter captured its best view yet of the Apollo 11 landing site on the moon.
www.space.comThe Apollo 11 landing site is on the Moon, at the southern edge of the Sea of Tranquility (Mare Tranquillitatis), where the Lunar Module Eagle touched down on July 20, 1969. The site is commonly associated with the area around the Sabine and Ritter craters and is widely visible in high-resolution lunar imagery from missions like the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter.
